Snakes n’ Ladders Running Route
There’s a whole new way to get around Kimberley.. Running the Snakes n’ Ladders trail. No better way to stay active during this time than heading out for a solo sprint around town. There is so much to explore and different ways to stay fit while still social distancing. Visiting avid jogger, Colin Williams, has pioneered a new challenging run around the town of Kimberley. He describes it as the perfect way to push yourself and see what the area has to offer in terms of beautiful new bridges and staircases that are speckled around Kimberley.
“Kimberley has so much nature to explore, so many great opportunities to get outdoors while keeping fit. Some friends and I made the Snakes n’ Ladders run to develop a training regiment that I could push my progress on daily. Get out and give it a try next time you’re visiting,” says Williams.
Detailed Directions
You begin the run anywhere along the loop. From near the platzl you head down Mark St and Rotary Dr before taking a right down Mackenzie St and crossing your first “Snake” of the journey. Cross the beautiful wooden bridge over Mark Creek before continuing down the street, bringing you to your first set of “Ladders” you will run up midway down Mackenzie. This will take you onto the path next to the 95a which will loop you back past the FasGas and Husky, where you’ll take another right down Leadenhall St and then a left up St Mary Ave. You’ll hit another Snake here, just continue straight until you reach Ross St, where you hang a quick left.
Run until you see the next bridge on your left, slide that snake and continue straight until you hit the next set of stairs straight into the woods. At the top of the ladder, pop a right and that will bring you down a path that darts out to Gerry Sorensen Way and leads to another beautiful bridge. Peak over the rails into the Mark Creek before continuing on to Kimberley Ave where you pull a larry.
Before Boundary St take the path off to the left and you’ll find another set of stairs near the church, which you power up then take a right at the top and catch your breath. At the end of that gorgeous sprint, you’ll get to Wallinger Ave where you take a right and continue to Howard St where you take a left and cruise straight down that road, past the OverTime Brewery and up your last set of Ladders to the high school. When you scramble out to your next road, take a right, then another right onto Phillips Rd, left on Bryant. Round the corner on Spokane which will take you all the way back to downtown Kimberley.
